Warm Up With The OXO Tower
It's safe to say we are all feeling the January blues, and the current chill is making it extra hard to leave our warm beds.
But the lovely people at Harvey Nichols are at it once again and have created the ultimate Winter menu for the bargain price of £30 p/p.
So if there's any reason to get dressed up and leave the comfort of your home - this is it.
The menu is available in Harvey Nichols across the UK at the cheaper rate of £20, but since the OXO Tower is right on my doorstep and boasts incredible views of London, I chose to dine here.
The OXO Tower is right on the river which you will find after a nice little walk down Southbank. The restaurant gives panoramic views of London, including the wonderful St Pauls, so if you're visiting in the evening, you get to see London in all of its lit up glory.
£30 will get you a three course meal and a Winter cocktail that tastes a lot like a french martini. The menu is as follows (with my choices in bold):
Roasted butternut squash soup (v)
Baked goat’s cheese, honey roasted figs, walnuts, bitter leaf salad
Braised oxtail and pearl barley
Portobello mushroom, bean curd, chestnut, beetroot purée (Vegan)
Roasted cod, cuttlefish and butter bean stew, parsley aioli
Slow cooked duck leg, lentils, winter vegetables
Sticky toffee pudding, rum sauce, clotted cream
Rhubarb, baked custard, ginger nuts
Dark chocolate tart, peanut butter ice cream
I can honestly say that the whole menu was cooked to perfection. Now I'm not a food blogger or food connoisseur, but hey I like a good meal, and this is one of the best I've had to date. Saying that, I'm not going to attempt some pretentious description of the courses, because that will not end well.
Surprisingly, the standout course for me had to be the starter; the braised oxtail completely melted in your mouth and the pearl barley added a fragrant edge to the dish.
If you're looking for a lovely evening with outstanding food then definitely be sure to make a booking ASAP - the offer ends February 11th and you can book here
