There has been a recent trend to take over the UK, one that I hadn't seen coming and is probably the most versatile trend of the year.Culottes are everywhere. I see women running down the street in heels with them to work or wearing them of a weekend whilst having lunch. They are so comfortable and easy to throw on and style in different ways making them wearable for every occasion. I've been desperate to buy a pair of culottes for months now but haven't found the right fit anywhere. Before going to Stockholm, I scanned the pages of the 'Weekday' website daily and became obsessed with their clothes. Weekday is a Swedish website that is very similar to that of Monki and H&M. However, we're yet to have a shop in the UK. I'm very cautious of buying things from other countries when I haven't tried their clothes before so I waited till I got to Stockholm to have a look...
Weekday is now my favourite store. The clothes are made from beautiful fabrics and they create perfect designs at the most affordable prices ever and just like Monki, the sizing is amazing! When we visited, there was a huge sale so everything I bought was half price or less. Just like other high-street retailers such as Zara and H&M, Weekday takes their inspiration from a lot of high-end designers like Celine and Alexander Wang. But unlike Zara, they do it SO well. They are inspired, not copied. I picked up a number of things but my two favourite items are featured in this outfit.
The culottes are the most comfortable thing I've ever worn. They have an elasticated waistband and are super oversized and baggy as they get to the bottom. Because the structure is so oversized at the bottom, it's best to balance them out with a cropped tshirt/jumper or something streamline that accentuates your upper body.
Here, I styled them with jumper I bought from Weekday; I actually prefer to wear this back to front as the top and bottom of the jumper inverts and it creates a cut-out look when wearing it on the front. As said previously, culottes work great with a pair of stilettos for work or night time purposes, but for an every-day casual look I opted for a pair of slip-ons from Saint Laurent, (also a new purchase) which I found in the sale reduced from £300 to £130. Since the outfit is all black, I like to add some statement jewellery bits. Urban Outfitters is great for jewellery, especially if you can get their pieces in the sale. The UO sale in Stockholm was far better than any of the stores in London and I managed to pick up a set of 5 rings and an ear cuff, all of which are featured below.
