Sexual, sensual, strong. Three very important S’s, all of which are covered in Tom Ford’s latest collection. Each model including everyone’s favourite Jagger daughter, Georgia May, exudes effortless coolness, power and confidence with straight, slick hair styles and the odd beanie hat here and there.
Colour is kept to a minimum bar a few looks in blood red, an eye-popping psychedelic fur jacket and leopard print. Along with a healthy amount of leather, a touch of velvet and fishnet tights, Tom Ford’s FW14 line is at risk of becoming a high-class call girl’s new statement wardrobe but Mr Ford knows what he’s doing. Despite it’s dark and erotic feel, the collection gives a sombre impression (there are no cleavages flashed on this catwalk) and has a playful edge.
It’s bold but in a world where we’ve seen all, done all, a bit of bold is always needed (although you’ll be more likely to see me in the white rug fur than the statement two-piece in red glitter…).
