Dermalogica: Healthy Skin For All

wholeline group_LR_Fotor_Collage It’s that time of year - it’s time to start writing your New Years resolutions. Amongst the many promises to quit smoking, drink less, eat healthy, buy a gym card (or continue eating Christmas leftovers) and shop less online, make sure to dedicate some time for your skin.

I got a head start on mine when visiting the Dermalogica shop in St Paul’s luxurious shopping centre, One New Change, for my 20-minute microzone treatment with beauty therapist Amanda. Dermalogica offers a range of different product systems to suit all skin types including skin health, AGE smart and the one I am currently using, UltraCalming.  If you’re unsure of your skin type, head in for a free face mapping session with one of the experienced Dermalogica beauty therapists prior to booking a treatment.

Amanda talked me through the effects of each product and gave me a very relaxing face massage while soothing music played in the background – altogether very de-stressing and much needed (and all under 20 minutes). The MicroZone treatments are aimed at those who have a busy schedule - considering the location of the shop most of those who visit during the week are out on their lunch breaks and need a quick pick-me-up or simply don’t have time to spend an hour on a skin care session.

The treatment is very similar to my usual morning routine of cleansing and scrubbing but Amanda mixed various products from the professional range along with the shelf range and created a concoction which together with the electrical machine used to speed up the treatment, made my skin baby smooth.

We all know that winter is rough on your skin, making your nose shine red like Rudolph’s (I’m getting heavy on the Christmas references, I know) so a bit of extra care during these cold and bitter months is definitely needed.  Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise. But be careful not to rub your face too hard. If you’re applying moisturiser to your eye area and you can afford to invest in some skin care, get an eye cream – the skin is more delicate and requires a special cream. Apply a rice grain size of product to each finger and lightly pat around the eye socket.

Final words of advice? Don’t forget your vitamins – A for anti-aging, C for brightening and E for a boost of collagen and elastin. For more information on the Dermalogica range or to use their online speed mapping service visit
