Massimo Dutti SS14 Preview
You know when you’re out shopping, arms begging to be filled with shopping bags, your credit card screaming for mercy, and you keep walking past a shop that you’re never sure whether to step into or not? Well, today I had a realisation. Take a chance and step into that shop! You’ll be surprised at what you find.
I found this out today when I went to preview the Massimo Dutti S/S14 collection, as I had never stepped into Massimo Dutti before. I don’t really know why, but I’m so glad I did! The new season collection is inspired by the ‘traveller’ style; each mini collection is inspired by a holiday destination that sums up a postcard perfect holiday.
Quality is the main thing in this collection. There’s nothing overly fussy, just a mix of stunning colours, fabrics and prints. The classic ‘basic’ garments come in Sahara beiges and khakis, keeping them light and fresh, and are a perfect match for the variety of prints and rich colours like navy, deep tan brown and emerald green (the must have colour of the season, they told me). There are also pops of colour that remind me of Mediterranean landscapes, with mustard for sand, turquoise/aqua green for the sea, and light indigo for clear blue skies… The whole lot just made me want to pack my suitcase and fly away to somewhere warm for the winter! Luxe fabrics such as leather, suede and silk take centre stage, creating simple yet stunning lines. Accessories also matched the colours in the collections, with some amazing leather bags ands shoes too die for!
And it wasn’t just the clothes that took you far away; the room was decorated with beautiful flower arrangements and that impressive centrepiece of mannequins, distressed wood and a zebra print rug.
