PFW: Lanvin SS14

Is there anyone who doesn’t love Lanvin? A firm favourite among the rich and famous, this is a show that will have a huge influence on next season’s high street selection. With models shimmering down the catwalk in an array of metallics, sequins and satin, the collection felt like a combination of deep-sea mermaids and disco-chic.

Lanvin’s SS14 girl is grungey yet refined, with a metallic biker perched on her shoulders, a satin reverse-peplum pencil skirt, and typically mussed-up hair, complete with fringe. She is undeniably cool, chucking on copper boiler suit and a pair of sunglasses, and she layers up on chunky necklaces with star or heart shapes (much like the successful ‘Love’ and ‘Help’ necklaces of this season): the reflective, lucid, fluidity of the fabrics are toughened up with these chunky metal accessories.

The pussy bows and 70s-style trouser suits glammed up with metallic fabric and body-con dresses ensure this collection will be essential party wear, and for those that don’t succumb to this vibe, the collection also featured a select few navy/white tailored dresses. Alber Elbaz is a genius.
