MFW: Moschino SS14
The brand that was created by the late Franco was started today in his memory. A short video clip was played to the audience in which the late Franco described his fascination with surrealism and his love for Italy. He stated “the most ironic thing that comes into my head is irony” and that “if people understood my love for the country they would make me the president of the Republic of Italy, and the pope”
The label is famous for its fun and eccentric designs and with the pieces shown today, Rosella Jardini has once again done a marvellous job.
The catwalk opened with a model wearing quite a quirky dress. The neckline was a sweetheart shape. The actual skirt of the dress was red with an enormous print of a cow both on the front and on the back. The second (and by far the quirkiest) model wore a headpiece which consisted of many teddy bears sewn together. The show continued with another piece being made from what seemed like bin bags.
The music changed along with the theme. Models were now walking in doubles holding hands. The new theme seemed to be “Bad Girls”. The pieces mostly consisted of leather and denim. The consistent colours used were black and powder pink. In terms of accessories, a “Bad Girl” belt was frequently used with the pieces. Many pieces were also decorated with chains.
The room then turned black and when the light came back, curtains were opened to display what seemed like twenty dressed mannequins. One by one models were dancing down the runway (some even skipped) in outfits that stated “I am what I am” much like the song being used. Models represented everything from a housewife to a Moschino girl.
The catwalk then ended by Rosella bringing out the models for the final walk. The models then sat on the catwalk for a while. Soon they resumed to dancing and walked off the runway.
Overall the fashion show had Moschino written all over it. From the quirky clothing to the fun models. The main colours were black, powder pink, red and blue. In terms of accessories statement belts and chains were seen repeatedly.
Rosella Jardini has yet again managed to create a beautiful collection for the coming S/S season and done Moschino proud!
