MFW: Bottega Veneta SS14

Bottega Veneta are known for being creators of some of the finest leather luxury goods in the world, so it stands to reason that they know a thing or two about paying attention to detail. Each of the models walked the runway complete with seriously lust worthy arm candy. However, the fashion house proves yet again that they are capable of much more than accessories with its SS14 collection.

Asymmetrical neck- and hem lines reign supreme, while skirts are kept to the über-flattering (and extremely hot right now) mid calf length. Luxe fabrics in muted colours give the collection a grown-up feel. Ruffles and frills add volume and structure, focussing on the silhouette. The looks are all very feminine, with a subtle hint of vintage seen in the nipped in waists.  As for the bags, this season heralds the return of the smaller, structured handbag – again, a nod to old-school glamour.

Spotted on several catwalks over the past two weeks, dresses embellished with small mirror fragments seem to be a new trend. Bottega Veneta put their own sophisticated spin on the look with their midnight blue ankle length gown that’s just dying to be worn at a party.

Stand out piece? A black kimono style calf length dress that calls to mind the chic Italian lady sitting drinking coffee outside a café.
