NYFW: Ralph Lauren SS14

It was monochrome madness at the Ralph Lauren show, which kicked off the last day of action at the New York Fashion Week 2013. Stripes, checkered patterns and spring floral- it was print galore at New York’s Lincoln centre. The prep inspired Spring 2014 collection, showcased school girl chic reminiscent of a clueless movie. Shift dresses, suits, tops, skirts, and straight cut trousers ruled the runway. Signature sunglasses accompanied with these selected collections gave the Ralph Lauren collection a perfect prestigious look. The great selection of monochrome designs showed the versatility of the simplicity of Black and White. In addition to the monochromatic collections there were gorgeous pastel coloured evening dresses and suits. These bright additions added depth to the runway show and are definitely fit for the spring season. Showing a total of 53 looks this show nearly hit every spectrum of the rainbow with 8 looks being a ‘virgin all in white’ theme. From Black and white to summer pastels and then back to black and white again, the show was perfectly executed and ran fluently from start to finish. Another display of amazing designs and exquisite combinations. Ralph Lauren never fails. • Trends: Check, Floral, Stripes, Monochrome • Colours: White, Black, Yellow, Red, Blue, Green, Orange • Key Piece: Red Bardot maxi dress with cape • Accessories: Large rimmed sunglasses, caps, handbags, High knee socks
