The show which had a mix of fashion editors, musicians and actress’ amongst its attendees, had an overtly gothic feel to the amazing Vera Wang’s Spring 2014 Ready to wear collection.
Known for her elaborate wedding dresses and bridal clothing, Wang’s collection bought to life the Morticia Adams fashion with dark coloured dresses and shirt and skirt combinations, which opened and set the pace for the show.
Colour bursts of Orange, Yellow and Blue, enthused the collection as unstructured dresses fell gracefully on the models slender figures.
This ready-to-wear collection included a variety dresses fit for the races and elegant summer weddings .
The sheer tops and cinched waist culottes added to the versatility of the collection as they gave a welcome laid back touch to the show.
Wang’s use of embroided inserts made her clothing stand out from other designers such as Alexander Wang and BCBGMAXAZRIA who also showcased sheer inspired clothing during this New York Fashion Week season.
Watching the show made me nostalgic as it reminded me of her Spring 2011 collection in which we saw crop and wide leg bottom combinations which is similar to what what was exhibited today.
The simple approach that Wang takes to clothing continually makes her clothing strong and structured in originality.
