For everyone in the Fashion publication industry, September is the biggest month in the calendar. For everyone who claims to 'love' fashion but know nothing about it, the documentary 'September Issue' outlined this point.Originally set by VOGUE US, The September Issue (also known as The Fashion Issue) has became the biggest selling issue in the fashion calendar, creating beautiful and memorable spreads, including the best front covers and of course, it is the biggest.
Publications will fight with one another to gain the best celebrity/model endorsement on their magazine cover. Star covers have included Gwen Stefani and Sienna Miller. So what does September 2013 have install for us?
VOGUE US September 2012 issue is unbeatable in my eyes but the Jennifer Lawrence cover was just as beautiful. I am however going to comment on the Lady Gaga cover from last year as its still my all time favourite. Lady Gaga triumphed over all the other publications. The whole photoshoot was breathtaking, stripping her makeup completely back and adorning Gaga with beautiful couture. One of my favourite pictures from the shoot sees Gaga completely bare, with nude makeup and only an extravagant, bold fur hat to cover her. (see in the gallery below) 10/10 Vogue.
Although this LuckyMag cover is beautiful and Blake Lively looks amazing in this oversized coat, the look of despair on her face completely puts me off the whole cover. A 6/10 for Lucky Mag I have to say.
Supermodel Kate Moss graces the cover of a mens magazine cover for 17 years, putting British Esquire in the running for top September cover. The embellished bodysuit shows of Kate's incredible figure that made her the supermodel she is today and the colours and font are typically Esquire with a more feminine twist. 9/10
ELLE UK is the only magazine that I buy every month as I love the content regardless of the cover. However, sticking to their playful and less pompous roots, they have produced another outstanding September cover. Rosie Huntington Whiteley's September 2012 cover was incredible and in my eyes unbeatable but Katy Perry's laid-back and minimal cover has me torn between the two. 10/10
As Glamour has named this issue 'The Hollywood Issue' then I feel Jennifer Aniston is a great choice for the cover and it will attract an incredible amount of young Hollywood starlets hoping to make it like Jen or better. 7/10
Harpers Bazaar's September cover is fun and flirty but I can't help but think aren't Sarah Jessica Parker's modelling days over? Yes, you look fabulous at forty-eight but everyone knows you're not actually Carrie Bradshaw swanning around Paris with Big in Manolo's. 4/10
