This season, the Chanel AW13 show was, as always, situated in the Grand Palais. A huge darkened globe which stood centre stage set the theme/mood as it slowly revolved with small flags pin-pointing Chanel boutiques all around the world. One message was clear and stood out to everyone: Chanel is global.
Similar to the globe and many of Chanel’s other collections, the clothes had a dark palette and many fitted, streamlined silhouettes. Although dark, the clothes twinkled as metallic yarn was threaded and woven through the tweeds making them glitter.
Footwear focused on boots, whether that be leather boots with chain detailing or glossy patent biker styles. The beautiful Chanel bags were in boxy form with popping colours like bright pink and yellow or the small globe shaped bags that hung on a thin chain.
This season was all about layering and I can't fault Karl’s choice as he layered chunky knits upon soft fitted shirts with tweed skirts and even headwear. There is no chance a Chanel woman will be cold during Autumn/Winter and I can’t wait to start layering up after seeing yet another magnificent Chanel show.
