My fashion journalism course this term brings a unit full of imaging and styling. With this in mind we have to set out to find a magazine and then shoot and style a shoot with that magazine in mind. My first opinions on this unit were low as I've never had any experience with photography or styling but once the ideas started flowing and I spoke to the partner I'm working with I completely changed my mind and now I am extremely excited to start the project.
Whilst in central London I visited the Selfridges newsagent to look for a magazine. Most people would find a magazine and then conjure up a shoot. I on the other hand had the shoot in mind and set out to find a magazine that would be perfect for it.
I came across the magazine Plastik Magazine - the issue out at the moment is the PINK issue. The magazine is based a lot on imaging and a theatrical way of shooting. So much work has gone into all the shoots, from the venue, the props, the models and makeup. My favourite shoot is the one set in LADUREE; Entirely suitable for their 'pink issue', the shoot encaptured the women like mannequins surrounded by the sweet look of laduree's macaroons.
